Oh Hello There

Posted by Anthony
August 13, 2010

Thought I would touch base and let you all know how I've been these last few months. So much about my life has changed and is changing every day. I've invited a clarity into my life that has made things so much easier to understand and deal with. The most I'm going to say about it is that for anyone who believes that substances alien to the body and mind are helping them find some kind of inner peace or balance should at least explore the concept of the powerful human mind. It's capable of rejecting unwanted stress and negativity through introspective, reflection, and positive reinforcement. Fully knowing that this might be the cheesiest thing I could say, I've never felt so free.

I've been setting up Green headquarters in Doylestown, PA with the help of our family and friends, as we are getting ready to accept another member of our tribe into this world. Becoming a dad is the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me and I can't wait to hold and love this child, who will arrive before our US headliner. I already have plans to fly home on any day off to be with him or her. Should prove to be a challenging task, but I'm more than up for it.

Recently I was able to fulfill an adolescent dream. That is, playing with one of my favorite bands of all time, The Deftones, and was able to get to know them and their crew a little (who are remarkable). Also, we've been doing some of the most intimate performances that we have done since the birth of Circa Survive. I've been able to reach out and hold onto you, touch your faces, meet you, and hear your stories. We have sung to each other, sweat on one another, and shared in the experience of losing your mind to rhythm and melody, enchanting. Almost every one of you that I have met has expressed that Circa, as well as other music, has played a role in making life better. I can relate to that so much, because that is the reason I started playing music. It's healing, magical, and its power is determined by how much you're willing to surrender to it. Like an ancient mass, singing and dancing together, holding each other up, I love it. And although there are moments where I miss my family so much that it physically hurts me, the pain is mostly extinguished by Nick and Steve's crunchy rhythms, Colin and Brendan's dreamy leads and riffs, and your voices screaming and yelling all sorts of crazy shit, dying to shed the worries of your daily life to enjoy music created and preformed with so much love. There are a few more dates on the small run so come out and experience this with us if you can. If not, the headliner is promising to be an excellent adventure.

More updates soon,
Anthony Green

    Hi, Anthony.
Awesome show at the Chance last night! You guys were incredible! You had so much heart and energy, I'm so glad I made it out. My name is Brittany, and I actually met you after the show. I hate to say this because although it's not how I define myself, it helps people remember me- I was the girl in the wheelchair. I just want to thank you and the band again for an amazing show, and thank you for taking some time out to talk to me. I cannot convey, as words are too trite, just how much that meant to me. Your music alone has gotten me through so much, but to know that you truly love your fans and what you do is incredible. You were right when you said you do what you do because you want to help people- your music connects people and gives us an outlet for our emotions. I really meant it when I said Circa Survive's music and the experience of last night's show will help get me through medical school- those things will lift me up and give me the resolve to press on when I reach difficult times. I thank you so much for that. I want to help people, too, and your music and talking with you will help give me the strength to make that happen. I know it sounds cliche, and I apologize for that. I simply cannot thank you enough for your time and the band for a great show. You are a genuinely down to earth person and a true artist, and I really admire that. I wish you, your family, and the band nothing but love, happiness, and success. I hope to see you guys play again one day. Have a very Happy Thanksgiving and a great holiday season. Thank you so much- for everything.

    Brittany

    Anthony,

What you Colin, Brendan, Nick, and Steve have accomplished is indescribable. Your music has gotten me through some tough times and will hopefully continue to lend a healing hand in the future. Your passion, excitement, and absolute love for the fans is greater than anything I've ever seen from a band and it makes me connect with your music that much more, especially live. I get absorbed in the moment and I hate to let it go, but the memory is sustained in the back of my mind and I can always go there to remember how much fun I had. I can't wait for it to happen again. Hope to see you guys, again, soon. We all love you guys. Until next time!

    With warmest regards,

    Rich Jacques

I've been a fan of your music for a few years now, and overall Circa Survive's music has touched me. I love the sound and feel of your music, and I would love to be at a live performance with you guys sometime. Your music inspires me to work hard and that even when all odds are against you, never give up. Congratulations on becoming a father. I'm sure that must be the joy of a lifetime. If you have extra time, write me an email. Rhysarkhan623@hotmail.com
    Thanks.

    Your fan,

Congratulations on becoming a father. When I became a mother 3 years ago, it was the best thing to happen to my life. Much like you, I used to thing substances could benefit my life and becoming a mother has changed my life completely. I can say the same about your music because it has inspired me greatly in so many ways that I can't even fit on this page.

    Anthony,

thank you so much for the update. I feel the same way you do about how music can be so powerful and it truly is the greatest thing. I had the pleasure of meeting you guys twice the night of the Mesa, AZ show and I will never forget that day. It was my third or fourth time seeing you and it just gets better every time. Thank you so much for caring about your fans as much as you do because it means so much to me. Don't ever stop what you're doing and I am so glad to see you have a healthy baby James. You are supporting him by doing what you love and there is nothing wrong with that. You are going to be an awesome dad! Can't wait to see you in AZ again next year! Take care on tour and have fun!

Firstly, thank you for your gig in Paris! I've waited that day from the moment I heard you the first time(almost eight years)! That was just amazing to finally hear you live even if you were playing almost 2000 miles from my neighborhoods xD!! Now I'm eager for more and thanks for the opportunity to stream your london concert live! And thank you Anthony for the pic in Paris before the gig! Everything best to you guys and don't ever stop playing! Hope you will be playing also in Finland some day ;)

Congrats for your child and may the best things happen to you!

    best regards
    -Finnish boy! ;)

Through your music i feel like i have been freed from anything that could hold me back from being who i am. You inspired the uninspired and without even knowing me connected with me by being who you are. I know this sounds creepy but if I'm a creep then I'm happy with who i am and i will always be happy with what i do as long as a choose what i am doing. Can't wait to see you guys live November 14th at The Beaumont in KCMO seeing you live and sharing the emotional side of all the songs with everyone there will be a highlight in my life.

I recently became an uncle about 2 years ago and i am proud to say that i am an uncle. I'm sure you will feel the same when you become a father and an amazing father at that. Good luck with the tour and your soon to be child. Hope you guys play The Most Dangerous Commercials November 14th but i will be happy with any set you play because i appreciate all of your songs and not just the lyrics or vocals but also the drums, guitars, and bass. Keep doing what you're doing for you and everyone else.

Your opening paragraph...my husband remembers when you were in Saosin and hanging out with you after a show in Salt Lake City, in a van, smoking who knows what...

My husband went into rehab December 6th, has been clean ever since, we got married and welcomed our son on July 5th. When we first met, it was my Circa Survive tote bag he first noticed about me...well, maybe second to my boobs.

I do not care how cheesy it is, seeing the two of you...where you individually are now from where you both were...Dads...it is perfect.

Congratulations, you are going to love it. Our little guy is 8 weeks old yesterday.
